Spencer Makenzies Neon Sign
When you drive by Spencer Makenzie’s on Thompson Blvd. in Ventura, you’d never guess that the neon sign above it took 2 weeks to design, build, and install. Yet—that was the window.
While it’s not an ideal amount of time, it was made easy by the amount of style and appeal the building already held. Designed like a vintage yacht , Spencer’s already held a huge amount of curb appeal. The turquoise and white themes mimic the nearby ocean and call those who pass by to stop in for a leisurely experience on the outdoor patio. Nothing says a fun afternoon like 2 for 1 fish tacos.
But there was more that they could do, and every time we passed Spencer’s we were dreaming of building them their perfect sign. This is why 2 weeks was absolutely doable. The design was already done.
As eye-catching as the restaurant already was, the owner wanted to be sure that anyone who passed by couldn’t help but notice the famous fish restaurant on the corner. So we went full neon, with turquoise that perfectly complimented the building around it. “World Famous Fish Tacos” was all we had to say in bright lights to bring customers rushing in for a try.
As cool as Spencer’s was before this sign, the neon ensures that no one will miss it. It’s definitely one of our coolest neon signs up in Ventura. And since it’s been up, we’ve even heard some vegetarians say they’re tempted to hang out on the patio and sample the French fries.
