What Goes Into Custom Sign Service and Installation?

Although it looks simple enough, there are many factors that go into making commercial signage a reality. Not just anyone can do it, and you need a team of experts if you want eye-catching designs delivered. In this post, we are going to share some of our expertise with you and discuss what goes into custom sign service and installation.

The Right Equipment

Staged poles usually range around  20 – 80 feet tall and are sometimes even higher. The equipment used for this type of custom sign service has to reach high enough and get into difficult spaces. In many cases, the special equipment has to lift people to the installation point. When it lifts the installers, it has to be strong and safe enough to hold them securely.

The Right Tools

Storefront Signs are often attached to buildings at great heights. Not only do installers need the right equipment and tools to make these signs, but they also need the right tools to secure the sign and ensure it doesn’t fall down.

The Right Materials

Commercial signs, especially if they are outside your brick & mortar organization, have to be durable and long-lasting. Because of that, a sign company needs to know its way around materials. The facade may need fastenings and stabilizers, so the sign company you choose needs to know the right ones to use.

The Right Skillset

Not only do you need the right equipment & tools, but you also need trained technicians with the right skillset through every step of the process. They need to be knowledgeable about everything they do and experienced in the nuances and challenges that come with custom sign installation.

Installing signs isn’t an easy skill to be taken lightly. The installers at Dave’s Signs do high-quality work, have decades of experience and know-how to secure your sign the best and safest way possible. That way it stays put and looks it’s absolute best for a long time.

The Right Knowledge

Besides having skillful technicians, the staff at a sign company need to have the right expertise, especially when it comes to adhering to the local city ordinances. Municipalities have restrictions on the size of signage you can install, how it looks, where or how it can be placed, etc. We’ll take care of this for you by working with the city permitting process, getting approvals, so your signage adheres to the rules and looks good – hassle-free.

4 Monument Sign Trends for 2021 that Promote Identity

If you want your business to make a huge impact, why not use a monument sign? These popular signs really draw the eye and create landmarks for people passing by. Designing your signage can be challenging and rewarding, but the most important point is to make sure they promote your business identity effectively. Here are 4 monument sign trends for 2021 that are sure to convey yours.

#1:  Adding LED Illumination

monument sign LED lighting

monument sign is a ground sign that typically has a low profile. They come illuminated or non-illuminated. If you really want to catch everyone’s attention, then consider an illuminated approach. Dave’s Signs uses ground lighting for a spotlight effect. However, we can also add internal lighting to the sign.  Beautiful LED lighting is a popular choice because it is so long-lasting and reduces your carbon footprint. If you are going for a modern look with a touch of classic, then LED lighting is your best bet.

#2:  Enhancing Your Existing Architecture

Elements of masonry and wood, or foam that replicates these materials, give ample opportunity to match your monument sign to your building’s architecture. Color and style of the sign can also compliment the landscape theme. A professional sign company uses these elements to streamline the design of your building, creating a  consistent aesthetic and feel. This will give your business an opportunity to build brand recognition by creating a consistent look and feel throughout.

#3: Using Foam Fabrication Replicas

Since the cost of masonry is sometimes a deal-breaker for some companies, using foam in its place can save money. Surprisingly, these replicas mimic the appearance and benefits of the real thing when they are professionally done. Foam monument signs with veneer imitators of stone and brick look just as classy and are plenty durable, too.

#4. Highly Visible Curved Designs

Curved signs are another popular sign trend and ones with professional designs are quite impressive. They can be fabricated from wood, brick, stucco, high-density urethane or from concrete. The curved dimension to these signs additionally makes them visible from many directions.

Property Management Signs that Make Your Brand Shine

Excellent signage is part of what makes California scenery beautiful. A large part of that niche is property management signs, and you can find them peppered throughout where you live. These signs, however, have a three-fold purpose to be effective. First, the signs you have on the premise needs to attract renters. Second, they need to be compelling enough to make people want to find out more. Third, these signs need to build trust in your brand. After all,  these are potential clients and renters you typically want to build long-term relationships with.  To help with that, Dave’s Signs creates custom property management signs that make your brand shine.

Ahead, we’ve put together a few tips on what makes property management signs effective, while showcasing your brand:

Tip #1: Sign Consistency is Vital for First Impressions

With property management, just like in the rest of the business world, consistency is of vital importance. For example, you want leasees and visitors to your building to receive the same message every time. Especially when you schedule and display advertising and promotions.

This important message that visitors and occupants see, not only relates to your brand, but also to the elements of your products & services. This is why it’s essential to have consistency in your signage. Particularly if you are a large company with several branches and franchises.

Dave’s Signs understands the need for consistency throughout the building, and sometimes throughout the entire complex. As you can see in the following images, everything we did from the entryway monument sign to the directory sign, to the corporate building sign for our national customer, LiFETECH Resources, shouts out consistency.

In the preceding examples, the client lent a personal touch to their signs. Building on their concepts, our experts managed all processes to making the signage a reality. The results are coordinated, individual signs that really make their brand shine through.

Tip #2: Property Management Signs Must Have a Strong Presence

Monument signs are an excellent option if you are looking for a strong presence for your property management business. They create high street visibility and are the ultimate in wayfinding since they make your business easy to locate.  Take the architectural monument sign we created for the Residence Inn, Marriot. Since it is smartly done, it boosts exposure to their brand and strengthens their identity. An aspect that is incredibly important to a national hospitality company like them.

Tip #3: A Property Sign’s Appearance Must Match its Surroundings

A strategically designed sign can give you a one-of-a-kind and distinguished look that matches its surroundings. Dave’s Signs can customize your monument sign to reflect the appearance and essence of its surroundings.  In fact, we can replicate the unique architectural elements of your corresponding building. This service includes anything from material texture to its color palette.

Tip #4: Pick a Signmaker That Knows the Ropes

Lastly, you’ll want to choose a sign making company that knows the ropes of the business. For 20 years, Dave’s Signs has worked alongside contractors, property managers, landlords, and home owner’s associations.  We can design your property management sign to suit your needs. 5 Top Commercial Sign Trends for 2020

Eye-catching professional signs attract customers and give you the edge you need. For organizations in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles Counties, that usually means fresh takes on the interior and exterior signage. Sign trends include anything from contemporary accents on monument signs, to keeping with the new normal through vivid, communicative signage.

To check out your options, here are five top commercial sign trends for 2020.

Sign Trend #1:  Uniquely Styled Monuments

Sign Trends and Designs

A monument sign is an excellent way to welcome new customers or provide directions to existing ones. Like a Cabazon dinosaur, they draw your eye to them in a flash! Current trends include using sleek, contemporary freestanding monuments. This style of sign refreshes your visual identity and helps you rebrand. Freestanding monument signage stands out prominently on your topography, while still blending in naturally with your landscaping.

Sign Trend # 2: Illuminated Channel Letters

Custom Sign Design

Whereas current monument sign trends focus on refreshing and rebranding, channel letters drive your company’s name home. With this in mind, channel letter signs use your specialized font to make your brand instantly recognizable. Reverse channel lettering design is particularly in demand for 2020. Their halo effect makes them the darling of healthcare providers since they give an impactful and classy appearance to offices.

Sign Trend #3: Wayfinding Signs

Office ADA Signs

Who nowadays wants to waste precious time searching? Certainly not us. To that end, uncertain times in 2020 call for signs with a purpose. Dave’s Signs answers that call with anything from COVID-19 direction and regulatory signs to informational signage. The current trend consists of signs that assist in getting you safely where you’re going. Additionally, our wayfinding signs are both beautiful and functional. They’re your wingman.

Sign Trend # 4: Wood Decorated Signs

business signage

Wood decorated signs can achieve a wide array of visual effects. Their appearance runs the gamut from metropolitan sophistication to small-town vibe. Moreover, sandblasted wood signs are in vogue now, and you often see them adorning Southern California beach locales.

Sign Trend # 5: Window Signs

Last, but not least are window signs. They are some attention-grabbers, too. Our window graphics and text pop, and they can turn your windows and doors into an effective sales pitch. Hot designs for window sign graphics include bright, multi-colored icons. Also, minimalist line drawings that make glass look like a chalkboard are making their rounds.

Rebranding Star of CA Signs

Dave’s Signs has worked with many local businesses over the years. We have created and installed attractive signs in local pizzerias, government buildings, churches, and countless other establishments. Our goal is to ensure every client is satisfied with the design and quality of the sign and get positive results from it.

However, when a business has been around a long time, sometimes it goes through a rebrand to make new again. Same goes for the signs.

What you may not realize is that you might be able to use your existing sign as a base so you don’t have to start from scratch. It will save you money.

We recently did just that with a monument sign with great results.

Rebranding Star of CA Signs

Star of CA – An Admirable Organization

Star of CA is a great local establishment that provides support and therapy services for autistic individuals. They are located in Ventura, CA, and are committed to improving the quality of life of autistic children and adults.

It was a pleasure to work with an organization dedicated to the welfare of others. Our team was hands on deck and focused on delivering the best possible solutions.

Signs We Updated

Star of CA required new a monument sign and window graphic sign for their Ventura office. We had worked with them before and designed their old monument sign. They were so satisfied with the quality of our work that they came back to us when they rebranded.

Rebranding Star of CA Signs

The older sign was a bit dated and unsuitable for modern audiences.

Star of CA wanted something more contemporary and impactful. They wanted a soft halo illumination behind the sign to make it more eye-catching. They already had an impressive new logo for us, so we just needed to create a monument sign according to their requirements. The result was a beautifully illuminated monument sign.

What Did We Do, Exactly?

Rebranding Star of CA Signs

They already had a monument sign, so there was no need to build the entire feature from scratch. We carefully removed the old letters and facing to provide a clean surface once again. After that, we added a new face that fit the odd shape of the previous monument sign and incorporated the client’s new logo.

Our technicians had to create a new access point within the monument for wiring and powering the channel letter lights. This ensured the sign was illuminated and attractive. Our team was able to complete the upgrade and installation in a matter of time.

How Did The Client’s Feel?

The people at Star of CA placed a lot of trust in our hands when they commissioned the sign for their office. We knew just how important the job was and made sure that everything went according to plan. The clients were pleased with the results. The sign is modern, attractive, and eye-catching. It is durable and relatively easy to maintain, which was one of their primary concerns. They are happy with the results and the feedback they received from their clients.
